SUMMIT RACEWAY ELKO COUNTY AUTO RACING
TRACK RULES

1. GENERAL POLICY:

A. The Raceway Management and Officials will establish the length, frequency and admission of all events and programs. All participants will be expected to participate in every event that is possible.

B. Management has the authority to disqualify any car or refuse participation to any individual at any time.

C. Any person on this property without the permission of the Raceway Management is guilty of Trespassing on this property in conjunction with racing activities. However, the Management of the Raceway reserves the right to revoke and cancel this authority at any time that is felt that your presence or conduct is not in the best interest Auto Racing, your fellow competitors, the FANS and the Management of the Raceway.

D. Any disagreement over technical questions, operations or finishing positions will be resolved by the Racing Officials and Rules Committee. When their decision is rendered, such decision is final and binding.

E. After becoming a member, there will be a 30 day probation period before the new member is allowed to vote. Exception to this will be: if the membership is paid at the time of general membership renewal.

F. Rookie of the year honors will be awarded to the Rookie that finishes highest in the championship points standings (provided they drive the minimum of 50% of the main events).

2. ILLEGAL PENALTY POLICIES:

A. All entries must comply with specifications before entering the racetrack. Any illegal changes of any kind or and changing of tires to illegal size after entering the race will forfeit earning and points for that night and can be suspended up to (2) two night of racing. This rule will be enforced for all classes.

3. PIT ADMISSION:

A. Payment of fee and personal signing of release form. Minimum age for pit admission is 14 years (with written permission by parent or guardian. MUST BE WITNESSES). Minors must see us well in advance, so we may prepare the necessary releases. DO NOT wait until race day. Pit admissions are non-refundable and non-transferable.

4. RESPONSIBILITY:

A. The Raceway and Association assumers no responsibility for damage to or loss of your equipment, vehicles, by any means whatsoever. In restricted areas the Auto Racing involves risks and he assumes these risks with full awareness and knowledge.


5. CONDUCT RULES FOR DRIVERS & PIT CREW:

A. Any fighting at the track will subject the offender to suspension depending upon the seriousness of the incident and the decision of the Officials. Any continuous problems from the same individuals will result in permanent suspension. 

B. We expect courteous conduct from all participants at all times. We do not tolerate profanity in front of the race fans or Officials. Profane signs on your car, sex signs, etc., on your car or clothes will not be permitted. We expect you to look like Ladies and Gentlemen and to act like them. If you can’t abide by our rules, stay away. Be clean, uniformed and look respectable. Suspensions or fines will be awarded if, in the opinion of the Officials, they are necessary.

C. No Driver may get out of his/her car on the track or infield during the race. If this rule is violated, the Driver may be disqualified from that event or suspended.

D. There will be no drinking of alcoholic beverages in the pit area or use of controlled substances during or before the racing program, NO EXCEPTIONS! Anyone caught with any of the above on his person or in his equipment will be removed from the pit area. Any person who is, in the opinion of the Track Officials, intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance will be removed from the pit areas and suspended from racing. This includes any Officials. The length of suspension and amount of the fine will be determined by the Officials and Board of Directors. Anyone who does not leave the pit area immediately after being suspended will be subject to arrest and prosecution for trespassing.

E. Any person who uses abusive language or strikes a Track Official will be suspended and will forfeit all season points, any prize money due and may face prosecution. The Board of Directors will determine the severity of the incident.

6. PROTESTS:

A. Any protest must be presented in writing to the D.O.C. (Director of Competition) within 15 minutes of your event, accompanied by a protest fee of $25.00 for procedure or scoring, (Protest fee is returned on scoring, only if you are correct). Non-visual, mechanical protest fee of $200.00 will be returned to the protester if car is found illegal or will go to the protested car if found legal. The Rules Committee will review the protest at the track and a decision will be made. All decisions made by the Officials and/or Rules Committee will be final and binding. No arguing will be tolerated.

B. The Track Officials reserve the right to inspect any car at anytime. Failure to comply with the Officials request will result in suspension of car and driver.

C. All fines go to the appropriate fund of the car being pro tested.

7. DRIVERS RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Vehicles enter restricted area at their own risk.

B. Inspection Sheet will be used, if your car does not meet technical rules, you have one (1) event to repair. You will be allowed to race that night but you must start scratch. If the car or safety equipment does not pass safety tech it will not race until it has passed the safety inspection.

C. If a car has been cleared for a race day, any driver may drive that car as long as he/she starts the races in that car. If you change drivers in the middle of the racing night your car will start scratch. A driver may drive in more than one (1) class. You must notify the pit tower before that race if drivers have changed.

D. All classes except Gen-X must do their share of wheel packing of the track. All cars must complete a minimum of five (5) laps of packing. Failure to do so will result in that car starting in the back of all events. Track officials may waive this only for a good reason. A substitute driver will be allowed, but not a substitute car.

E. When called to stage all cars must do so immediately. If you are not in your position or not assuming position assigned by the Pit Tower, you will be sent to the back of the pack.

F. Any driver who delays the start or restart of any event by holding his/her position or not assuming the position assigned by the Flagman, will be sent to the back of the pack.

G. The driver will be responsible for all persons or crew members which sign in under the driver’s assigned registered car number. If there is a person in a pit, which has not signed the release required by our Insurance Company and does not have a pit wrist band issued by the admissions gate to them, and then the car driver will be subject to a $100.00 fine, plus suspension for the entire event. They will be asked to leave the pit, at the time it is determined that they have a person illegally in their pits. This applies to member and non-member alike. The driver and all others involved in the violation, will be fined or suspended or both, at the discretion of the Track Management. All fines must be paid before you are allowed back on the track.

H. All drivers shall be at least 14 years of age, as required by our Insurance Company.

I. To receive Summit Raceway points, you must be a member of E.C.A.R.

J. Non-member of E.C.A.R. shall be charged a $10 additional fee Car/Driver and an additional $5 fee for pit passes.

8. CAR APPEARANCE AND NUMBERS:

A. Car must be painted. No primer and maintained in an attractive, professional manner. Cars not maintained may be denied the right to compete at the discretion of the Track Officials.

B. Numbers must be 18” high and at least 2” wide on each side of the car and on the roof.

C. Roof numbers must be readable from the right side of the car.

D. No more than three (3) numbers or number/letter combination. No fractional numbers allowed.

E. Numbers must be painted contrasting colors to the car or outlined.

F. Front and rear numbers must be 4” in size, painted in a contrasting color.


SUMMIT RACEWAY
ELKO COUNTY AUTO RACING

1. SAFETY RULES:

A. When in pit areas, maintain a constant watch for your own protection. Half-white clothing or bright contrasting color REQUIRED! Speeding or reckless driving will result in fines or suspension and will forfeit all seasons’ point, any prize money due and may face prosecution. The Officials will determine the severity of the incident. A $25 fine shall be imposed for reckless driving or speeding and must be paid before you will be allowed back on the track.

B. No obstructing of pit lanes. Penalties may include forfeit of purse and/or suspension. See Pit Steward for loading instructions.

C. No person shall be allowed on the track except the Flagman, his assistant and/or official personnel. No pit personnel may work on any cars while on the track. Failure to obey may result in car’s disqualification.

D. Safety inspections of seats, seat belts, shoulder harness, roll cage, etc. If all items do not meet specifications, the car will not be allowed to run until properly repaired.

E. Fire retardant neck brace required (only required if no other neck restraint is used)..

2. APPAREL:

A. Fire suits required in all classes. Minimum one (1) layer Nomex or Proban: must have S.F.I. Label.

B. Nomex shoes are required in all classes.

C. Nomex gloves are required in all classes.

D. Helmets required in all classes. No driver will be allowed on the track at any time without approved goggles or face shield and approved racing helmets. Snell 00 or better, must have a SA rating for Modifieds. Class M allowed in Gen-X, Mini, Pure Stock and Pro Stock.

3. BATTERY:

Must be completely enclosed within a marine type plastic or steel box. Battery must be fastened to the floor or frame. An absorbent material must cover the top of the battery (i.e. foam or sponge).

4. BATTERY DISCONNECT SWITCH:

A. All cars will be equipped with a battery disconnect switch.

B. Switch must disconnect (+) positive cable.

C. Switch must be marked in a bright contrasting color.

D. Switch must be located behind driver, approximately shoulder height.

5. BELTS AND HARNESSES:

A. Seat belts and shoulder harnesses will be racing type only. SEMA approved.

B. 3” belts and shoulder harness and minimum 2” anti-submarine belts required.

C. 5-point hook-up required.

D. Quick release required.

E. Cannot be frayed or weather worn. (Subject to Tech. Inspectors)

6. BUMPERS:

A. Must be mounted outside of any reinforcement.

B. End of rear bumper must be strapped to fenders.

C. Truck bumpers must be same height as car bumper. Bardon bumpers will not be allowed.

7. BURNABLE MATERIALS:

All burnable materials must be removed.

8. CARBURETOR THROTTLE SPRING:

There must be at least two (2) throttle return springs on the carburetor. Each must be able to close the throttle without the other. Gen-X cars with fuel injection or throttle body exempt.

9. DRIVE SHAFT:

Must be painted white.

10. DRIVE SHAFT HOOP:

Mandatory on all cars. A drive shaft hoop must be located 4” to 12” behind the front u-joint. Material must be ¼” X ½” strap or better. The hoop must fully encircle the drive shaft and be bolted or welded securely to the floor pan or the frame. Gen-X exempt due to front wheel drive.

11. ENGINE MOUNTS:

Stock mounts may be welded solid or replaced by solid mount. The engine must be chained to the frame rails by no smaller than ¼” chain. One (1) chain on each side of the engine.

12. EXHAUST SYSTEM:

Exhaust must exit further back than driver’s seat in a safe manner. Except IMCA Modifieds, which must conform to IMCA rules.

13. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS:

Fire extinguisher in car is optional. Each cars pit must have a full charged A.B.C. rated minimum 5lb. fire extinguisher with their cars number clearly marked on it.

14. FUEL PUMPS:

A. Electric fuel pumps will be allowed.

B. All cars with an electric fuel pump must be equipped with both oil pressure safety switch and a manual power switch.


15. FUEL SYSTEMS:

A. Fuel cells are mandatory in all classes, except Gen-X. (See Gen-X rules).

B. Fuel cells and containers may extend below the trunk floor. The fuel cell must be contained in a full enclosed box made of minimum 20-gauge steel.

C. Fuel cells must be securely fastened to the frame or floor pan. Must pass Tech. Officials inspections.

D. Fuel cell must have a positive seal cap.

E. All fuel lines must run under the car or be encased in conduit.

F. Must have a roll-over vent check valve and safety flapper value.

G. All cars must have a safety fire wall between the driver and the fuel cell.

16. GLASS:

All exterior glass must be removed. This includes lights and windows.

17. HOLES:

All holes in driver’s compartment floor and rear firewall must be plugged or covered with sheet metal. Exception: 3/8” diameter drain holes in floor pan.

18. MIRRORS:

NOT ALLOWED.

19. NERF BARS (SIDE BARS):

A. Allowed in all classes.

B. One (1) horizontal bar per side only.

C. Not to extend more than 3” from the side of the car, to outside of bar.

D. Ends must be bent inward to prevent catching.

20. OIL COOLERS:

Oil coolers are not allowed in the driver’s compartment.

21. RADIATORS:

See class rules.

22. RADIOS:

Receivers, transceivers, or any other type of communication devices are not allowed in the car.

23. ROLL CAGE:

A. Minimum 6 point roll cage for Pro-Stock and Modified Mini. 4 point roll cage for Pure-Stock and Gen-X
IMCA as per IMCA Rules.

B. Gen-X: 1 ½” minimum diameter.

C. Mini Modified: 1 ½” minimum diameter.

D. Pure Stock: 1 ½” diameter .095” wall Steel Tubing allowed or 1 ¾ black pipe. No galvanized pipe or pipe fitting will be allowed.

E. Pro Stock: 1 ½” diameter .095” wall Steel Tubing allowed or 1 ¾ black pipe. No galvanized pipe or pipe fitting will be allowed.

F. Minimum .095 wall thickness.

G. Must completely enclose the driver.

H. Minimum three (3) door bars on the driver’s side; minimum two door bars on passenger side. Recommend 1/16” plate to be added to driver’s side for added driver protection.

I. Must have X brace behind driver.

J. All bars within driver’s reach must have padding.

K. Roll cage construction must not impede driver exit from either side of the car.

L. Must have at least (3) 3/8” bars in front of driver in all classes.

M. Roll cage must be secured to the frame (or floor pan on unibody cars) by welding solidly around each up right bar, or by welding each upright bar solidly to a 6 X 6 X ¼” plate and then bolting this plate to the frame (or floor pan on unibody cars) by a minimum of (4) 3/8” bolts per plate. (Note: If bolted to the floor pan it must be sandwiched between 2 plates).

N. All welded angles must have gussets.

O. Either tubing or black pipe may be used to make roll cage. No galvanized pipe or pipefitting will be allowed.

24. SEATS

A. Seats must be bolted or welded to the roll cage only.

B. High Back Racing Seat MANDATORY. Recommend Aluminum Racing Seat

C. Bench seats are not allowed. Racing seats ONLY!

D. The roll cage must support seat back or headrest.

E. All seats must have metal frames.

25. STEERING:

A. Quick release steering wheel is optional but recommended.

B. A pad at least 2” and 4” diameter thick of approved resilient material must cover the steering wheel hub.


26. TRANSMISSION SCATTER SHIELD:

A. 3/8” minimum thickness belting or blanket must shield automatic transmissions.

B. ¼” minimum thickness required for homemade scatter shields; or SEMA approved scatter shield required on all manual transmissions.

27. TOW HOOKS:

All cars must have tow hooks or a chain loop on center of bumper or on each corner of the car. Chain loop must be on outside of bumper.

MUFFLERS ARE MANDATORY ON ALL CARS!!

28. WINDOW NETS:

A. Mandatory on driver’s window. No string net type will be allowed.

B. Window nets must be secured at the bottom and have a quick release at the top.

29. MUD FLAPS:

ALL CARS except IMCA Modified must have mud flaps. Clearance between level ground and bottom of flaps can not be more than 2”.

30. SAFETY INSPECTION:

ALL vehicles must pass Safety Inspection. Safety Tech’s and Rule’s Committee decision is FINAL!


SUMMIT RACEWAY
ELKO COUNTY AUTO RACING

RACING RULES:

1. All line up procedures will be done according to IMCA point rules which can be found at www.imca.com

2. We do not race to the yellow. Once the yellow is thrown, the restart line-up will be according to the last completed green lap.

3. If a yellow is thrown before one lap is completed, then it will be a complete restart. Which means you will line up in two’s (2) just like you started the race.

4. If you cause two (2) yellow flags to be thrown in any one race, you may be black flagged for the remainder of that race.

5. All car/cars causing the yellow will go to the rear of the field. The car causing the yellow will start last, (or at the discretion of the D.O.C.).

6. A race will consist of three (3) cars taking the green flag. If at any time the car count drops below three (3), that race will have reduced laps.

7. Driver’s or Pit Crew harassing, complaining or yelling at the Score Keepers, Pit Tower or Corner people, may cause the driver to be disqualified for that event. All decisions on how a race will be run are made by the D.O.C. He may request help from the Corner personnel or Flagman. His decision is final. All complaints and protests will be made to the D.O.C. All decisions as to what happens in a racing incident on the track are the flagger’s responsibility. He may also ask for help from the corner people. His decision is also final. Neither you nor your crew will ever approach the flag-stand during the race. If you have a question, go see the D.O.C. If anyone does approach the Flagger, they will be disqualified for that event. Depending how sever the incident, you may possibly have to forfeit the right to race at Summit Raceway. All points and money you have earned to that date can be taken away from you.


SUMMIT RACEWAY
ELKO COUNTY AUTO RACING
RACING PROCEDURES:

1. Starting lineups will be determined by I.M.C.A. rules, Article XI.

2. Number of laps for races. Should be determined based on car count.
# of cars=laps
3-4=15
5-8=20
9-15=25
16 or more=30
*May be changed by D.O.C. to improve the show.

3. The Flagman is in charge of the racetrack when the events start; he is in control but may ask for assistance from the D.O.C., Scorers, Corner men, etc.

He may:
A. Disqualify a car if it causes two (2) yellows, reds or a combination of the two during an event.

B. Keep the race under green if a car spins into the infield and is out of the way. If driver’s condition is uncertain or unknown, Flagman will throw a red flag.

C. Disqualify cars for unnecessary contact or rough driving.

4. Black Flag Rule:

A. A rolled up black flag is your warning.

B. (1) One unrolled black flag=out for the event. (Heat, trophy dash, etc.)

C. (2) Two unrolled black flags=out for the night.

5. If there is deemed to be time there may be a 4th Heat Race with a minimum of three (3) cars. All safety rules apply for every driver.

6. There are five (5) classes at Summit Raceway: Gen-X, Modified Mini Stock, Pure Stock, Pro Stock, and I.M.C.A. Modifieds.

7. If you are in an accident and are ok drop your window net.

8. If you go off the track for any reason you will go to the back of the field.

GEN-X
CLASS RULES

1. BATTERY:

A. Must be completely enclosed within a marine type plastic or steel box with an absorbent material covering the top of the battery. (Not required if gel type battery is used).

B. Battery must be fastened to the floor or frame.

C. All cars must have battery disconnect switch on positive cable.

D. Disconnect switch must be marked in a bright contrasting color.

E. Switch must be accessible to track officials behind driver’s shoulder.

2. BODY:

A. 1980 or newer, front wheel drive, factory produced compact sedan or coupe.

B. Must have originally been designed to seat four (4) or more passengers.

C. No all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive allowed.

D. No mid or rear engine vehicles allowed.

E. Vehicle must appear stock.

F. Doors may be gutted or skinned to allow clearance for roll cage.

G. All interior trim, class and flammable material must be removed.

H. No reinforcement outside of body lines allowed.

I. Must have racing approved window net with quick release at the top.

J. Must have chain loop or tow hooks on each end of the car.

K. No mirrors allowed.

L. A mandatory protective screen must be installed; screen must cover the full windshield opening. Must be securely fastened. Center vertical support mandatory. Screen to be of maximum ½” square openings.

3. BRAKES:

Must have brakes functional on all 4 wheels at all times.

4. CAR APPEARANCE:

A. Must be painted (no primer allowed).

B. 18” numbers on each side of car and on roof.

C. Roof numbers read from right side of car.

D. No more than 3 numbers or number/letter combinations.
E. No fractional numbers.

F. Numbers must be contrasting colors to the car of our lined.

G. Must have 4” front and rear numbers.

5. CARBURETION/INJECTION:

A. Carburetor may be changed within make of vehicle.

B. Air cleaner may be replaced.

C. Emission control systems maybe removed.

6. ENGINE:

A. Inline 4 cylinder engine with all original specification for the car used.

B. Must remain completely OEM (bone stock).

C. DOHC allowed.

D. 3,000cc maximum displacement (no stroker cranks allowed).

E. Any replacement parts must be exact replica of OEM.

F. No rotary engines.

G. No turbochargers, superchargers or other forced induction.

H. Stock ignitions and control modules must be retained in functional operation and be unmodified.

I. Maximum compression at cranking speed is 150 PSI., unless service manual for specific car clearly stated higher (car driver/owner is responsible for providing service manual before being allowed to race.)

J. Engine must idle smoothly at factory-specified idle speed (800 RPM if factory spec is not known).

7. EXHAUST:

A. Catalytic converters may be removed.

B. Must exit further back than the driver in a safe manner.

8. FRAME:

A. Stock frame or uni-body/sub-frames maybe reinforced between front and rear suspension.

9. FUEL:

A. Pump gasoline only may be used.

B. Stock fuel tanks maybe used, but must be mounted safely away from exterior of car and drivers compartment.



10. RADIATORS:

A. Any stock radiator allowed in stock location.

11. ROLL CAGE:

A. Minimum 4-point roll cage welded securely to cars frame or sub-frame.

B. Must completely enclose driver.(steel tube or black pipe)

C. Minimum of 3 horizontal door bars with at least 2 vertical supports on driver’s side.

D. 1 ¼” black pipe maybe used (no galvanized or exhaust tubing allowed).

E. Standard roll cage tubing is recommended.

F. Cage must be welded and gusseted at corners.

G. No threaded connections, no brazing, or soldering.

H. Halo bar and windshield bar required.

12. SEATS:

A. Racing seats mandatory. Recommended Aluminum Racing Seat.

B. All seats must be properly mounted to secure frame that is welded to roll cage.

C. Minimum 5-point racing harness required.

D. All belts must be mounted to seat sub-frame or roll cage.

13. STEERING:

A. Alignment maybe changed but components may not be modified.

14. SUSPENSION:

A. Stock suspension maybe reinforced but must remain in original mounting position.

B. No racing shocks or strut (stock only).

15. TIRES:

A. Must be passenger-car type with tread wear rating visible from outside.

B. Wear rating must be 250 or greater (subject to durometer reading).

C. Maximum tread width is 7” measured across top of tire.

D. No retreads.

E. No grooving, siping, studding, etc.

F. Tires must not extend outside the body line when viewed from behind.

G. Mud flaps required on rear of car, (must be within 2” of ground).

16. TRANSMISSION/DRIVETRAIN:

A. Open differential only.

17. WEIGHT:

A. No added weight allowed.

18. WHEELS:

A. Steel wheels only.

B. 6” maximum width.

C. Lug nuts must be 1” in diameter.

NOTE:
OUR GEN-X CLASS AT ECAR/SUMMIT RACEWAY WILL INCORPORATE A CLAIMER RULE THAT IS OULINED IN THE FOLLOWING:

1. Immediately after completion of the main event, the top four finishers must proceed to a designated “claiming” area in the pits. The Director of Competition, Rules Committee and any driver as described following who intends to initiate a claim against one the those four cars shall also go to the claim area at that time. Any driver finishing fifth or farther back in the field at the conclusion of the main event and completing the same number of laps as the car being claimed, has the right to claim a finishing first through fourth position. However, in order to initiate a valid claim, the car of the driver initiating the claim must have completed the same number of laps as the car being claimed.

2. The amount of the claim is $750 payable only in cash, by the driver initiating the claim, within 10 minutes of the completion of the main event. In the event of multiple claims on the same car, preference will go to the driver of the car finishing farthest back in the field, but still on the same lap as the car being claimed.

3. The money must be given to the Director of Competition (D.O.C.) within 10 minutes of the completion of the main event. The D.O.C. shall hold the claim money until the claim is judged valid following the D.O.C.’s review of the scorers’ records for the race and the claimed car’s driver is notified of and accepts the claim.

4. A claimed driver (claimee) has two options: taking the claimer’s car plus $100 cash as an exchange, or taking the $750 cash with no exchange of claimer’s car.

5. Any claimed car is claimed whole, and as-is, with the exception of the seat, harnesses, and other personal driver’s safety gear.

6. Failure to follow the procedures outlined above by the claimee will result in forfeiture of all monies and points earned for the night, as well as all points earned previously during the racing season. In addition, the offending driver will earn no further points or money at the track until the claim procedure has been followed.

MODIFIED MINI STOCK
CLASS RULES

1. BATTERY:

A. Must be completely enclosed within a marine type plastic or steel box with an absorbent material covering top of battery (not required if gel type battery is used).

B. Battery must be fastened to the floor or frame.

C. All cars must have battery disconnect switch on positive cable.

D. Disconnect switch must be marked in a bright contrasting color.

E. Switch must be accessible to track officials behind the driver’s shoulder.

2. BODY:

A. Must be a rear=wheel drive, factory produced compact sedan, coupe or light truck.

B. No all-wheel drive or front=wheel drive allowed.

C. No mid or rear engine allowed.

D. Steel or Aluminum aftermarket bodies allowed. Must have front fenders.

E. Plastic or fiberglass nose section allowed.

F. Fiberglass roof ok.

G. Pick-up bodies must have a tonneau cover over bed area.

H. Doors may be gutted and welds, straps, bolts, or rivets must secure them.

I. Fenders and fender well may be cut out for tire clearance. Front inner wheel well maybe removed.

J. Firewall may be removed, must pass safety inspection.

K. Floor pan must be complete in driver’s area. Passenger floor pan maybe removed as long as driver’s area is completely enclosed.

L. No mirrors allowed.

M. Removal of all glass required.

N. All holes in driver’s compartment floor and front rear firewall must be plugged or covered with sheet metal.

O. Hood and trunk springs must be removed, lids secured with pins only.

P. Must have tow hooks or chain loop on each end of car.

Q. Must have racing approved window net with quick release at top.
R. Bumpers must be mounted outside of any reinforcement.
S. Ends of rear bumpers must be strapped to fenders.

6. EXHAUST:

A. Mufflers mandatory.

B. Catalytic converters must be removed. 

C. Must exit further back than driver in a safe manner.

7. FRAME:

A. Tube frames must use stock front and rear sub-frame (stubs).

B. Frame and sub-frame must match suspension.

C. Frame connectors allowed.

8. FUEL:

A. Gasoline only. No alcohol or methanol.

B. Electric fuel pumps allowed, must be equipped with both oil pressure switch and manual power switch.

C. Fuel cells mandatory, must have positive seal and roll-over vent check valve.

D. Fuel cell and containers may extend below the trunk floor. Cells must be contained in a fully enclosed box made of minimum 20 gauge steel.

E. Fuel cell must be securely fastened to frame or floor pan.

F. All fuel lines must run under car or be encased in conduit.

9. RADIATORS:

A. May be relocated (must pass safety tech inspection).

10. ROLL CAGE:

A. Minimum 6-point roll cage.

B. 1 ½” diameter tube with .095” wall minimum.

C. Must completely enclose driver.

D. Minimum of 3 door bars on driver’s side and 2 door bars on passenger side.

E. Must have X brace behind driver.

F. All bars within driver’s reach must be padded.

G. Roll cage construction must not impede driver’s ability to exit car from either side of car.
H. Roll cage must have a vertical bar in front windshield.

I. Roll cage must be secure to the frame (or floor pan on uni-body cars) by welding solidly around each up-right bar, or by welding each upright bar solidly to a 6 X 6 X ¼ plate and then bolting this plate to the frame (or floor pan on uni-body cars) by a minimum or (4) 3/8” bolts per plate. (Note: If bolted to the floor pan it must be sandwiched between 2 plates).

J. All welded angles must have guests.

K. Either tubing or black pipe may be used, no galvanized or pipe fittings allowed (see page 9 for specifications).

L. One (1) nerf bar per side allowed, not to extend more than 3” from side of car to outside of bar. Ends must be bent in to prevent catching.

11. SEATS:

A. Must be bolted or welded to the roll cage only.

B. Racing seat mandatory.

C. Roll cage must support seat back or headrest.

D. All seats must have steel frames.

E. Minimum 5-point racing harness required.

12. STEERING:

A. Quick release steering wheel recommended.

B. A pad at least 2” thick and 4” diameter must cover steering wheel hub.

C. May use heim joints.

13. SUSPENSION:

A. Suspension may be moved as long as factory components are unmodified except front upper spring bucket maybe modified to allow for weight jacks or coil-over springs.

B. Weight-jacks allowed.

C. Any type shock absorbers, including coil-over, maybe used.

D. Four (4) shocks per vehicle only.

E. Heim joints permitted on pan hard bar and shock absorber mounts.

14. TIRES: 

A. Tire must be DOT radials, no racing, or other retreads allowed. Goodyear Track Tire.

B. Tread wear rating must be visible on outside of tire and must be greater than 100; durometer reading must be greater than 56.

C. Tires may not exceed eight and one half inch (8 ½”) footprint at 20 PSI.

D. Grooving and siping is allowed.

E. NO brand name racing tires.

F. Mud flaps required on rear of car, must be within 2” of ground.

15. TRANSMISSION AND DRIVETRAIN:

A. Single disc clutches only, no ram couplers etc.

B. No aluminum flywheels unless factory stock.

C. Automatic transmission must have functional OEM torque converter.

D. Differential must be semi-floating type and quick-change type rear-ends are not allowed.

E. 1” inspection hole required in bell-housing or dust cover to check fly wheel.

F. 3/8” minimum thickness belting or blanket required on automatic transmission.

G. ¼” minimum thickness or SEMA approved scatter shield required on manual transmissions.

H. Driveshaft must be painted white.

I. Must have driveshaft hoop, must be located 4-12 inches behind front u-joint, must be ¼” X ½” strap steel or better. Hoop must fully encircle driveshaft and be bolted or welded to the floor pan or frame.

16. WEIGHT:

A. Car must weigh at least 1lb. per cc of engine displacement,with driver.

B. Added or removable weight must:
1. Be painted white.
2. Have car number on it.
3. Be in blocks no smaller than 5lb. (no milling balls).
4. Be secured to the side or top of the frame with at least two (2) ½” grade 5 bolts.

17. WHEELS:

A. Any reinforced stock steel-wheel or racing type steel wheel may be used.

B. Wheel spacers allowed (one per wheel) not to exceed 1”.

C. Bead locks are allowed, right rear wheel only. 

D. Lug nuts must be 1” in diameter.


PURE STOCK
CLASS RULES

1. BATTERY:

A. Must be completely enclosed within a marine type plastic or steel box with an absorbent material covering top of battery (not required if gel type battery).

B. Battery must be fastened to the floor or frame.

C. All cars must have battery disconnect switch on positive cable.

D. Disconnect switch must be asked in a bright contrasting color.

E. Switch must be accessible to track officials behind the drivers shoulder.

2. BODY:

A. Front engine, rear wheel drive mandatory.

B. Steel-bodied cars only; no convertibles, t-tops, or sun roofs allowed.

C. Entire body must remain factory stock appearance and materials; no after market fenders, hoods, doors, bumpers, clip, etc., allowed. After market nose is allowed.

D. Body must replicate showroom original shape and appearance.

E. Doors may be skinned to allow fitting roll cage.

F. Front inner fenders may be removed if not required by suspension.

G. Replacement parts made to OEM specifications are allowed.

H. No updates, backdates, options, etc., are allowed. The car must appear mechanically and cosmetically as it did coming out of the factory.

I. Fender openings may be trimmed one (1) inch from the original lip for tire clearance.

J. All holes in driver’s compartment floor and front and rear firewall must be plugged or covered with sheet metal.

K. No mirrors allowed.

L. Must have tow hooks or chain loop on each end of car.

M. Must have racing approved window net with quick release at top.

N. Bumpers must be mounted outside of any reinforcement.
O. Ends of rear bumper must be strapped to fenders.

C. No solid or roller cams allowed.

D. No solid, or roller cams allowed.

E. Maximum compression ratio 9:3:1.

F. Combustion chamber volume of heads must be at least 67cc; no “fuelies” or 4V or W-2 heads allowed.

G. No porting or bowl work allowed.

H. No domed pistons.
I. No engine set back or offset.

7. EXHAUST:

A. Cast iron manifolds only.

B. Must exit under car, behind driver.

C. Mufflers required.

8. FRAME: 

A. Sub-frame connectors allowed on uni-body cars.

A. Pump gasoline only (no methanol or racing fuel).

A. Steering components must be OEM or OEM replacements.

B. Quick release steering wheel recommended.

C. A pad at least 2” thick and 4” diameter must cover steering wheel hub.

D. Alignment changes are allowed as long as components are not modified.

14. SUSPENSION:

A. Suspension components must be OEM or OEM replacements.

B. No weight jacks, no racing springs and no racing shocks.

15. TIRES:

A. DOT radials only, must be passenger-car type.

B. No retreads or bias-ply tires. Tread must remain original; no grooving, siping or snow tires allowed.

C. Tread width measured across the top of tire must not exceed 7”.

D. Tread-wear rating must be plainly visible on the outside of the tire, and must be greater than 250, also subject to minimum durometer reading of 60.

D. Tires must not protrude beyond body.

F. Mud flaps required on rear of car. Must be within 2” of ground.

16. TRANSMISSION AND DRIVETRAIN:

A. Factory transmissions only.

B. Functional OEM torque converter or OEM single disc clutch only.

C. No aluminum flywheels.

D. 3/8” minimum thickness belting or blanket required on automatic transmissions.
E. ½” minimum thickness or SEMA approved scatter-shield required on manual transmissions (see page 10 rule 26A).

F. Driveline must be painted white.

G. Must have driveshaft hoop. Must be located 4-12 inches behind front u-joint, must be ¼ X 1/2” strap steel or better. Hoop must fully encircle driveshaft and be bolted or welded to the floor pan or frame.

H. May change rear axle ratio, but must not be higher numerically than 4:11:1.

I. Must have open spyder gears: No limited slips, mini-spools, spools, welded spyders, Detroit lockers, positrac, shimming etc. allowed.

J. Ford 9 inch rear axles allowed, but rear suspension must remain unchanged from stock.

17. WEIGHT:

A. Minimum car weight is 3400lb. including driver.

B. No ballast is allowed.

18. WHEELBASE:

A. Minimum wheelbase is 110 inches.

19. WHEELS:

A. Only spoke type steel wheels or reinforced center stock steel wheels are allowed.

B. Lug nuts must be 1” in diameter.

A. Front and rear suspension and frame must match and be complete.

B. Sub-frame connectors maybe used, must retain complete stock front and rear suspension.

C. Suspension must be OEM, but attaching points maybe modified and heim joints maybe used on pan-hard bars and shock absorbers.

D. Suspension mounting points maybe changed as longs as factory components are not modified.

E. Front spindles, rotors, and calipers must be OEM and same make as the frame.

F. Racing shock absorbers can be used and mounts moved but coil-over shocks are not allowed.

G. Suspension bushings must be OEM size.

H. Lower control arms must be OEM.

I. Upper front control arms maybe OEM or aftermarket tubular. Non-adjustable control arms only. Must retain stock-type cross shaft mounting.

J. Weight jacks are allowed.

K. Rear axles maybe full floating.

L. No cambered axles, no light weight axles (aluminum, etc.). No quick change rear gears.

M. Rear axle does not have to match cars corporate line (Ford-GM ok).

N. Sliders maybe used in place of shackles on leaf spring cars.

O. Racing or aftermarket springs allowed.

P. After market upper and lower rear control arms allowed. Box tubing only, no swedge tubing or heim joints allowed. Non adjustable.

15. TIRES:

A. Towels City red dot retreaded tires allowed.

B. Retread racing tires with minimum 45 durometer allowed.

C. Stock tires will be allowed with DOT tread wear rating and minimum 45 durometer.

D. Tires designed for racing only are allowed. Only if recapped with approved compound.

E. Grooving or siping allowed.

F. Bleeder valves allowed.

G. Mud flaps required on rear of car. Must be within 2” of ground.
